Kirtland Real Estate

Located in Lake County, Ohio, the City of Kirtland has long been known as the early headquarters of the Latter Day Saints. Today, however, it has gained the reputation as one of Cleveland’s finest suburban communities that offers a unique quality of life that can rarely be matched.
Kirtland’s population is just below the 7,000 mark and those residents enjoy a community that boasts forest and park land that covers over 20 percent of its boundaries. Blended with the rapid development of many new residential housing projects, with most homes located on large lots, and residents of Kirtland have numerous ways to enjoy the beautiful Ohio landscape. With its location only five miles from Lake Eire, and its boundaries on three sides by the East and West Branches of the lovely Chagrin River, Kirtland is the picture of natural beauty.

Notable parks and green spaces accessible to Kirtland residents include the Holden Arboretum, a 3,500 acre preserve for both native and rare plants, trees and shrubbery. The Chapin Forest Reservation, where hiking and cross-country skiing are popular activities, is a terrific place to enjoy the changing seasons. Kirtland residents of any age enjoy visits to Lake Farm Park, where demonstrations of traditional and modern farm techniques are available. Penitentiary Glen, a nature preserve and learning center that specializes in the care of injured wild animals, encourages Kirtland’s already healthy appreciation of the outdoors and wildlife.

Kirtland is rich in history and has become an increasingly popular destination for tourists who flock to the buildings preserved in the Kirtland flats located along the East Branch of the Chagrin River, many of which have been there since the 1830s. Visitors from all over the world come to see the historic Kirtland Temple, built by the founders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1836, and the historic Old South Church, established in 1819, and the standing structure built in 1859 still welcomes members to enjoy services to this day.

Education in Kirtland is provided by its own public school system serving grades K-12 and a private religious school. In addition, Kirtland residents can continue their education at the Lakeland Community College, which has a campus in the northern part of the city. Lakeland Community College is fully accredited and has an enrollment of nearly 9,000 students who attend classes in the day, evening and on the weekends. The Lakeland Community College serves as Kirtland’s largest employer. Kirtland commuters can also attend the following private higher education institutions within an easy drive: Cleveland State University, Lake Erie College, John Carroll University, Baldwin Wallace College, Kent State University, Case Western Reserve University and Hiram College.
If you are looking for a quieter community with easy access to the excitement of Cleveland and its national cultural and sporting attractions, employment opportunities and more, then have a look at Kirtland. Real estate for sale in Kirtland is quickly being recognized as a valuable investment for both your present lifestyle and your future success.
